Information platform for the "National Tourism Agency"

An informational meeting for tour guides, guide-interpreters and tour group leaders was held at State Memorial Complex “Khatyn” together with the National Tourism Agency. The event was aimed at familiarizing the participants with the activities of Memorial Complex “Khatyn” and its branches MK “Dalva” and MK “Mound of Glory” as tourist sites, and the features and specifics of their work.

Purpose of the event:

The main goal of the meeting was to provide the participants of the courses for guides, guide-interpreters and tour group leaders with comprehensive information about the memorial complexes, their history and modern opportunities for visiting. This will help tourism specialists conduct better and more informative introductory tours for their clients, since the main tours of the memorials are conducted only by the employees of the complexes - full-time tour guides.

Event program:

The event included a rich program, including:

1. Visiting memorial complexes:

The meeting participants visited memorial complexes "Khatyn", "Dalva" and "Mound of Glory". These objects are important historical and cultural monuments symbolizing the tragic events of the Great Patriotic War.

2. Getting to know the museum exhibition:

The course participants got acquainted with the museum exhibition of State Memorial Complex "Khatyn". As part of the 2022 reconstruction, a new museum with an interactive component was opened, using modern technologies to present information. This conveys all the pain and horrors of war, making a visit to the museum more emotional and memorable.

3. Dialogue platform:

    • During the dialogue platform, participants learned about various aspects of the activities of memorial complexes. The following topics were touched upon:
      • History of the creation of the memorial: 
        Participants learned about how memorial complex “Khatyn” was created and what events served as the reason for its construction.
      • Reconstruction 2022: 
        Details of the latest reconstruction of the memorial, carried out in 2022, were presented. Participants learned what changes were made and how they affected the perception of the complex. In particular, in 2023, a new museum with an interactive component was opened, using modern technologies to present information.
      • The fates of the witnesses of the tragedy: The stories of people who survived the tragedy in Khatyn were told, as well as those who fought for the freedom of their Motherland.
      • Trials of the executioners of Khatyn:
         Participants learned about the trials that were held against the punitive forces that destroyed Khatyn village.
      • Features of the branch of MK "Dalva" complex: 
        The unique features of memorial complex “Dalva”, which is also an important historical heritage site, were presented.
      • Reconstruction of the memorial on the Mound of Glory: 
        Participants learned about the ongoing reconstruction work at the Mound of Glory memorial, aimed at preserving and improving this important historical site.

4. Information:

Participants received information about services, prices and rules for visiting memorial complexes. Information about upcoming exhibitions and events planned to be held on the territory of the complexes was also provided.

Particular attention was paid to the fact that excursions on the territory of memorial complexes and the museum are conducted only by the employees of the complexes - full-time tour guides. Guides and guides-interpreters provide introductory information for the tourist groups they accompany and must be well informed about all the details. This ensures a high level of professionalism and quality of the services provided.

The information meeting at Memorial Complex ”Khatyn” was an important event for tourism specialists. It enabled participants to deepen their knowledge of significant historical sites and improve the quality of the excursions. Memorial Complexes “Khatyn”, “Dalva”, and “Mound of Glory” continue to be important symbols of memory and heroism, attracting the attention of tourists from all over the world.
