“Liberators in memory – for centuries”

01.04.2025

Every year on April 2, Belarus and Russia celebrate the Day of Unity of the Peoples of the two countries at the state level. The history of this memorable date goes back to 1996, when the Treaty on the Creation of the Community of Belarus and Russia was signed on April 2.

This moment became the starting point when two independent countries, in order to unite their material and intellectual potential, decided to create a politically and economically integrated community.

On April 2, 1997, in Moscow, the Presidents of Belarus and Russia signed the Treaty on the Union of Belarus and Russia. Since then, April 2 has become the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.

Our nations are united by many things: history, culture, economy, faith... A special page in the history of our states is the Great Patriotic War. The names of the heroes of numerous battles and wars are carefully preserved in people's memory. The memory of them lives on in the names of streets, boulevards, avenues of our cities.

This was our common Victory. And the Memory is also common. It is for centuries.

On April 2, 2025, in the lobby of SMC “Khatyn”, there will be a screening of documentaries and videos dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, natives of Russian cities who liberated Belarus.
