In memory of the tragic pages of common history

On September 9, 2025, as part of a working trip to the Republic of Belarus, memorial complex “Khatyn” was visited by Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation for State Policy in the Humanitarian Sphere, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society N. Ovsienko. He was accompanied by Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus V. Lakiza and Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Science of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus V. Danilovich.

The guests visited the museum on a guided tour and were introduced to the interactive materials used in its exhibition, dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War.

In his review in the Book of Honored Guests, N. Ovsienko emphasized: “Khatyn is a sacred place for every Soviet person!” and expressed gratitude to the Belarusians “for their reverent attitude to the common history of the common Fatherland!”

After reviewing the elements of the open part of the memorial complex, the guests honored the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War, laid flowers and visited the temple.

The visit to the memorial for N. Ovsienko took place as part of a planned series of meetings with the heads of the republic's authorities, Belarusian scientific and cultural institutions that are responsible for implementing state historical policy and preserving historical memory.

Nikolai Ovsienko noted in a conversation with the director of SMC “Khatyn” D. Viltovsky, summing up the results of the visit: “We are responsible for ensuring that the current and future generations of our children and grandchildren remember at what price happiness was won.”

The guests expressed their gratitude to the director and staff of the memorial for their constant and purposeful work to preserve the truth about the tragic and heroic pages of the common history of the peoples of Belarus and Russia.
