During their visit to the memorial, Colonel General Kerim Tofig Ogly Veliyev, First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, and Major General Zainobiddin Ruzievich Iminov, First Deputy Minister of Defense - Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, laid flowers at the Eternal Flame. The delegations bowed their heads in respect to the memory of the innocent victims and the heroism of the Belarusian people who persevered during the terrible years of war.
During the Great Patriotic War, representatives of many peoples of the Soviet Union fought shoulder to shoulder: Russians, Ukrainians, Kazakhs, Azerbaijanis, Armenians, Tajiks, Turkmens, Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, and others. Not all republics of the former USSR experienced the kind of devastation that Belarus endured during the war. However, thousands of sons and daughters of these peoples gave their lives so that we could have peaceful skies above our heads.
Today, Khatyn unites people from different countries and nations, reminding everyone that peace is fragile, and the memory of the past must live on so that tragedy is not repeated.
