Following the tour, the head of the delegation, Colonel Aung Kyaw U, expressed his deepest condolences to the Belarusian people, noting that the memory of such tragedies unites nations that have endured the horrors of war. He emphasized that Myanmar also endured severe trials during World War II: the country was occupied for three years and became the scene of fierce fighting between Allied and Japanese forces. The Japanese occupation resulted in heavy civilian losses—approximately 200,000. Concentration camps existed in Myanmar, where people suffered greatly.
Colonel Aung Kyaw U thanked the memorial complex staff for the informative tour and expressed his appreciation for their careful attention to the memory of the war victims. At the end of the visit, he invited the Belarusian delegation to visit Myanmar to learn about their country's history and memorial sites.
The visit to the memorial was an important step in developing international ties and strengthening mutual understanding between the peoples of Belarus and Myanmar, who are united by a desire to preserve historical truth.
