This educational institution is a breeding ground for future Olympians. The school trains reserves for the Belarusian national teams in biathlon, freestyle wrestling, track and field, cross-country skiing, and judo.
As the institution's director, Yaroslav Popovich, noted in his welcoming address, attention is paid not only to physical training but also to the patriotic education of the youth. Addressing the students and teachers present at the meeting, the director emphasized that "Khatyn is our memory."
Memorial staff gave young athletes a virtual tour of the memorial complex and told them about the fate of those who survived the tragedy in Khatyn village. A touching account of the tragic events of the Great Patriotic War that took place in Logoisk region enabled the younger generation to feel compassion for the civilian population who suffered during the turmoil of war and to understand the value of human life and the price paid for the Great Victory and the peaceful skies over our country.
Conducting such lectures fosters patriotism, enables young people to feel a connection with their people, and connect with the pages of their history.
