A new cafe has opened on the Mound of Glory!

26.06.2026

On June 25, 2026, a new cafe, "U Kurgana," opened on the grounds of memorial complex "Mound of Glory" after a major renovation!

The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of Minsk Regional Executive Committee, Aleksey Kushnarenko, employees of the regional executive committee, and members of the Council of Elders.

— The café, built this year as part of the seventh phase of reconstruction of memorial complex Mound of Glory, is designed in the style of the 1960s. The interior and menu recreate the atmosphere of that era. The artistic design includes a decorative panel that visually references the Ring of Glory, located at the foot of four bayonets—symbols of the fronts that liberated Belarus from the Nazi invaders in  summer 1944. Archival photographs documenting key historical events that took place on the memorial complex's grounds occupy a prominent place in the interior, enabling visitors to delve deeper into the site's history," said Dmitry Viltovsky, director of memorial complex “Khatyn”.

During a conversation with journalists, Alexey Kushnarenko explained why the cafe opened on June 25, the first day of the XIII Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia.

— After all, 60 years ago, construction began on memorial complex "Mound of Glory", based on handfuls of land from the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War, now located in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. It also included the heroic cities where the well-known Moscow native and Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolai Gastello died, having performed his heroic deed on Belarusian land near Molodechno.
Visitors can appreciate the atmosphere.

When to visit?

Everyone can appreciate whether the architects have successfully captured the atmosphere of the 1960s and 1970s: the "U Kurgana" café will be open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day except Monday.
