Larisa Savich, Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work, on behalf of the Rector of M. Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University, expressed gratitude to Dmitry Viltovsky, Director of MC “Khatyn”, for long-standing and fruitful cooperation and assistance in forming and organizing the student groups at the memorial complex. In turn, Dmitry Viltovsky noted the importance of Bagration group's work and their contribution to preserving the memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War. A key part of the event was the flower-laying ceremony at the mass grave.
On August 23, 2026, student team "Bagration", created within the History Department of Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University, will conclude its summer season. For four years now, the students have been conducting tours of SMC “Khatyn”, greeting and consulting visitors to the complex, and assisting the complex's staff in maintaining records of tour groups. Some students enjoyed the experience so much that they have returned to work there for several years.
Since so many people want to join the team, a competitive selection process is being held. Participants must memorize an excerpt from “Khatyn” tour and present it effectively to a commission. They must then demonstrate their erudition and resourcefulness by answering the commission members' tricky questions.
This format of work is planned to be further developed. In the future, young people will be involved in activities at other memorial sites in Belarus, particularly Memorial Complex “Trostenets”. Young activists will also be able to conduct tours at the National History Museum after its opening this autumn.
The cooperation between Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University and MC “Khatyn” has proven its relevance and effectiveness, combining educational, patriotic, and practical youth work to preserve historical memory.
